The Solarpunk Sanctuary is not a centralized hierarchy: it is a living, federated network. We provide open-source frameworks so anyone, anywhere, can establish an autonomous local Sanctuary or align an existing project with our shared ethos.
What Is a Hub or Shrine?
An affiliate doesn't require a traditional building or large budget. Any physical project or gathering space that serves the community and restores the earth fits into the network:
- Micro-Shrines & Nodes: Little Free Pantries, community seed libraries, solar-powered public charging benches, rainwater harvesting points, or neighborhood compost drop-offs.
- Community Hubs: Community gardens, local tool libraries, repair cafés, open skill-share workshops, or decentralized mutual-aid kitchens.

- Fundraising & Resource Gathering: Operating under a recognized spiritual sanctuary framework provides a non-profit, values-based foundation to collect donations, apply for local grants, and gather tools, land, and materials for earth-restoration projects.
- Volunteer & Member Recruitment: Affiliation gives your project a clear, inspiring identity that attracts local neighbors who want to put their hands to work for community resilience.
- Directory Visibility & Knowledge Sharing: Get listed in our public affiliate directory so locals can find your space, while gaining access to open-source blueprints, templates, and operational guides shared across all hubs.
The Baseline Covenant
Affiliation is open to any autonomous space or adjacent project that operates in alignment with three simple commitments:
- Ethical Alignment: Adherence to our 7 Core Principles centered on practical naturalism, empirical truth, and ecological stewardship.
- Non-Partisan Operation: Keeping sanctuary spaces and public ministry work strictly non-political to protect accessibility for all neighbors.
- Non-Coercion: Honoring personal autonomy and practicing non-coercive leadership in all community care efforts.
We are actively drafting our formal affiliate charters, governance templates, and public hub directory. If you have expertise in community organizing, cooperative governance, legal frameworks, or permaculture, we invite you to help build these starter tools.
